Volunteer Training

During the application process, all volunteers working with blind or visually impaired clients undertake a three hour, visual impairment awareness training course. The session provides essential information and instructions for volunteers in working with people with low vision and sight loss. The session includes the following information:

  • Information about Middlesex Association for the Blind
  • A dvd demonstrating some of the problems visually impaired people face
  • Practical sessions on guided walking
  • Eye conditions and their effects on daily life
  • Volunteering and what to expect from your role

The training is held at our Head Office in Stanmore and is a fun, informative session. You will be given a certificate on completion. Here’s what some of our previous attendees have said about it:
