    Home visiting service

    Home visiting service

Our Home Visiting Service operates in 9 London Boroughs, Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Enfield, Harrow, Haringey, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond. We provide a unique service for people who are blind and partially sighted to assist, support, and enable them to continue to live independently in their own homes, complementing the work carried out by the Rehabilitation Officers and other professionals.

Often our clients live alone or feel isolated and would simply like befriending, whilst others require more practical assistance. Our staff and trained volunteers (who are required to undertake a DBS check) provide support in the form of help with daily living such as assistance with reading their post, visiting friends, writing letters, outings and shopping. Such tasks can become quite difficult for someone who is blind or partially sighted without a ‘good’ pair of eyes to help.

Additionally for many, the loss of sight can result in a loss of confidence, isolation and depression. If you are visually impaired and would like to be visited at home or wish to refer someone that you are currently caring for to receive one or more of our services, please contact us at our Head Office on  020 8423 5141. Alternatively, you can refer someone to receive our services by downloading and completing our Referral Document by clicking here: Download Client Referral Form

What does the Home Visiting Service cost me?

Our HVS is free of charge!

Any money we raise through our fundraising efforts is reinvested back into Middlesex Association for the Blind.

If you’d like to help support the work we do, please consider making a donation, setting up a direct debit or talk to us about leaving a legacy by visiting our donate page.

“The Support Worker is so helpful to me. It is wonderful to know that someone is coming to visit me on a specific day. She helps me with reading my mail, getting out of the house for some exercise, and anything else I may need.” Barbara
